Standard fiberglass wrap maxes out at 550-650°C. Your turbo downpipe easily exceeds 800°C — that's why cheap wraps smoke, melt, or catch fire. EPMAN uses 96% SiO₂ high-purity silicate needle mat, rated for 1100°C continuous and 1600°C peak — purpose-built for high-output turbo and motorsport exhaust systems.

Low conductivity across the entire operating range means heat stays on the exhaust side — firewall backside temps stay well below the source, protecting wiring harnesses, brake lines, and plastic components.

If all you need is sound dampening or hood decoration → buy the PE foam. If your exhaust temps exceed 600°C, only two columns on this table survive — EPMAN and ceramic fiber blankets. And ceramic blankets have no adhesive, shed irritant fibers, and require full PPE to handle. That's why EPMAN Silicate Mat exists.

FAQ:
Q1: What temperature can the adhesive withstand? Won't it melt?
A1: The adhesive is designed for installation positioning — it provides adhesion at ambient to moderate temperatures (<300°C), enabling single-person installation. After the first high-temperature heat cycle, the adhesive cures. From that point on, all thermal insulation performance comes from the silicate fiber mat. For continuous high-temperature areas, you MUST add stainless steel cable ties for mechanical fixation. Think of it this way: the adhesive helps you "place" the mat; the ties "lock" it down.

Q2: How is this different from EPMAN Gold Heat Shield? Which one should I buy?
A2: They are complementary, not substitutes.
Gold Heat Shield: Reflective aluminum type — works by reflecting radiant heat and relies on an air gap. Best for firewall, hood, intake piping areas — non-direct-contact applications.
This product (Silicate Mat): Contact-insulation type — works via low thermal conductivity to block heat transfer. Best for areas directly adjacent to exhaust manifolds, turbos, and downpipes.
Best setup: Silicate Mat as Layer 1 (contact insulation) + Gold Heat Shield as Layer 2 (reflect residual radiant heat) = WRC-grade thermal management.

Q3: Is one sheet of 50×100cm enough?
A3: One sheet covers 0.5m². Typical usage:
Downpipe firewall area: ~40×60cm
Turbo heat shield liner: ~30×40cm
Hood (turbo side): ~50×60cm Measure your target area first. When joining multiple sheets, overlap by 2-3cm.

Q4: Will it absorb water or oil?
A4: No. SiO₂ silicate fiber is inherently hydrophobic and oleophobic. Liquids stay on the surface — wipe dry and it's as good as new. Unlike rock wool or mineral wool products that absorb moisture and clump up, this mat remains stable in humid environments.

Q5: Can I use this on track days?
A5: Absolutely. Most racing regulations require heat shielding materials to be non-flammable and produce no toxic fumes — this product meets both criteria. Always check your specific event's technical regulations, as some may require metallic shielding structures.

Q6: Will it damage nearby plastic parts, rubber hoses, or wiring?
A6: No. The mat's low thermal conductivity means the backside temperature stays far below the heat source. When applied to a firewall, the radiant heat on the backside is drastically attenuated — well within the safe range for plastic wiring loom sheaths and rubber hoses. This is a key advantage over aluminum reflective mats (which need an air gap to function; without one, they are nearly ineffective).
